World Series Game 7 Draws Over 50 Million Viewers In the US, Canada and Japan Regions.

The exciting extended clash where the Los Angeles Dodgers defeat the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 averaged a total over 50 million viewers in the US, Canada, and Japanese markets. MLB reported this marks the highest-rated World Series Game 7 after the 1991 edition contest between the Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Television Viewership Breakdown

The Saturday memorable game averaged over 27 million viewers on Fox Sports networks, Fox Deportes and their streaming platforms. According to Nielsen, it was the second highest-rated program of the previous week.

It also stands as the most-watched Fall Classic matchup since the 2017 Game 7 between the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged 29.07M. This represents a sixteen percent improvement over the previous finale featuring the Nationals and Astros, which drew 23.19 million.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game placed fourth, Game 4 was 7th, Game 5 came in eighth, and Game 3 finished in 13th place.

Global Audience Numbers

In Canada, the game recorded 11.6 million watchers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This was the most-watched English-language program in Canada since the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final game started at 9 PM local time, it attracted 12 million viewers. This came after last Friday’s Game 6 – in which World Series Most Valuable Player Yamamoto allowed a single run in six innings – drew 13.1M viewers, making it the most-watched World Series game on a single network in Japan.

Series Averages and Trends

The full seven-match World Series recorded 15.71M audience members on the Fox network, a two percent increase from last year’s Dodgers-Yankees matchup. This represents the first time since 2015 and 2016 that the World Series has seen viewership growth for two straight years.

Counting the Game 1 broadcast on Univision, the complete American average reached 16.1M. The overall World Series viewership in the Japanese market was 9.7M and 8.1 million in Canada.

The complete MLB Postseason on Fox, FS1 and FS2 drew 8.09M watchers, an 8% rise over the previous year and Fox’s best playoff performance since the 2017 season.

MLB announced that the World Series was televised in over 200 nations and regions by forty-four media partners in sixteen different tongues.
